Emerging Drug Therapies for Heart Failure
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Heart failure is associated with high morbidity and mortality and is proving to be an economic burden in developing countries. A number of therapeutic agents are presently employed in heart failure; but they are not sufficient to control symptoms of heart failure. Moreover, the prevalence of chronic heart failure is progressively increasing and thus there is a continuing need to develop effective therapies for the management of this disease. The present review has discussed various potential therapeutic agents which may open new vistas for the management of heart failure.

Emerging Novel Therapies for Heart Failure
Heart function fails when the organ is unable to pump blood at a rate proportional to the body's need for oxygen or when this function leads to elevated cardiac chamber filling pressures (cardiogenic pulmonary edema). Despite our sophisticated knowledge of heart failure, even so-called ejection fraction-preserved heart failure has high rates of mortality and morbidity. So, novel therapies are s...

In recent times, there have been many developments in therapies for acute heart failure, in contrast to the preceding 20 years. These have been mainly fueled by new and expanding knowledge about the pathophysiology of heart failure, which has allowed for insight into potential therapeutic strategies. This review will examine the key emerging therapies for acute heart failure, in light of availa...

Implantable devices have become a readily available option for patients with heart failure. Not only do these patients develop bradycardia and ventricular tachycardia, but their ventricular dysfunction can often improve with cardiac resynchronization therapy. However, this is a complex and rapidly developing clinical science for which the physician chooses techniques and selects patients on the...
متن کاملAdvanced Therapies For End-Stage Heart Failure
Management of the advanced heart failure patient can be complex. Therapies include cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, as well inotropic agents for the short-term. Despite a growing armamentarium of resources, the clinician must carefully weigh the risks and benefits of each therapy to develop an optimal treatment strategy. While cardiac transplantation remains the only ...
